Human Resources Specialist

Job Summary
Responsible for executing general HR functions to support the organization’s workforce and ensure compliance with employment laws. Effectively execute all job duties listed, manage unexpected events, and effectively communicate the store goals with planning, direction and training. Uphold core values in all actions and processes while embodying the mission of St Vincent de Paul. The enthusiasm and culture of SVdP must be lived and communicated throughout the store, staff, volunteers and community while upholding the core standards.

Duties

  • Draft job descriptions, source candidates, conduct interviews, perform background checks and drugscreens to uphold company policy
  • Facilitate orientation for new hires, explaining company policies, benefits and coordinating professional development programs
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding by entering employee data into payroll and internal systems, verifying required documentation, and ensuring compliance with employment regulations
  • Administering health insurance, retirement plans, and leave requests
  • Understand processing payroll
  • Acting as a liaison between management and staff, mediating disputes, and addressing workplace grievances or harassment allegations
  • Developing HR & company policies and ensure adherence to labor laws and company mission
  • Overseeing evaluations, reviews, and performance improvement plans

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to sit for long periods of time with options to stand
  • Extensive use of hands/fingers for typing, filing and operating office equipment
  • Ability to talk, hear, and view computer screens closely for extended periods of time
  • Occasional walking, standing, reaching and bending for filing or office navigation
  • Must be available on weekends; 40+ hours weekly

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal/written communication for interacting with employees, candidates, and management
  • Ability to resolve disputes and use sound judgment in employee relations
  • Understanding and handling sensitive personal or professional crises with discretion
  • Managing complex records, compliance and multiple projects simultaneously
  • Supporting a diverse workforce and thriving in fast-paced, changing environments while support of mission and adherence to core values

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
