Medical Laboratory Technicians

Responsibilities:
  • Supporting/Assisting the Medical Laboratory Scientists in all areas of medical laboratory investigations and in all disciplines of medical laboratory science (i.e Haematology, Blood transfusion, Microbiology, Cytology, Chemical Pathology etc)
  • Engaging in medical laboratory investigations, as assigned by the MLS or Director
  • Involved in troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment, devices, and other appliances being used in the laboratory.
  • Assisting in phlebotomy services, within the laboratory and outside the laboratory (where needed), after adequate training
  • Assisting in the preparation of culture media and other laboratory reagents, as directed by the Medical Laboratory Scientists or/the Medical Laboratory Director
  • Helping in maintaining accurate inventory record of all our reagents, kits, equipment, etc.
  • Helping to ensure all our glassware and other related laboratory materials are available for use.
  • Other professional duties, as may be directed by the Medical Laboratory Scientists, Medical Laboratory Director and managers.


Requirements:

  • Minimum academic qualification: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science (Technician), awarded by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) in collaboration with an accredited School of Health Technology or other relevant academic institutes. 
  • Work Experience—Minimum of 3 years of work experience in accredited medical laboratories.
  • Licence to Practice - Current (2026) Medical Laboratory Technician licence, issued by MLSCN, is compulsory.
  • A license for the immediately previous year (2025) may be accepted, pending renewal for the current year.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Teamwork and ability to adhere to detailed instructions
