Inpatient Units Include: - Bone Marrow Transplant - Medical/Hematology - Breast/GYN/Head & Neck - Neuro‑Oncology - Thoracic - UGI/Colorectal - Urology/STS Across these units, nurses work within a multidisciplinary care team that includes providers, social workers, nutritionists, occupational/physical/ respiratory therapists, and case managers. Patient and caregiver education is a core focus, supporting a safe and confident recovery at home. About the Role: The Nurse I provides patient care, health teaching, and health counseling in an oncology setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or other licensed independent provider. Key Responsibilities: - Plans, provides, and supervises nursing interventions for individuals with cancer and cancer‑related health conditions. - Diagnoses and treats human responses to actual or potential health problems through patient care, health teaching, and health counseling. - Provides interventions that support or restore life and overall well‑being. - Executes medical regimens as prescribed by a physician, dentist, or other licensed healthcare provider authorized by State Education Commissioner regulations. - Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Hospital Clinical Assistants, and Clinical Secretaries in the delivery of nursing care. - Enhances professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, reviewing current literature, and attending in‑service meetings and workshops. Staffing Ratios: To support safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care, our inpatient units maintain the following staffing levels: Day Shift: 4 patients per nurse Night Shift: 5 patients per nurse 👉 The bedside nursing team operates across units with a total of 160 beds. Compensation: -Starting base rate: $34.80/hour - Geographical differential: $9.04/hour - Total starting hourly rate: $43.84/hour Night Shift Premium: - Additional $6.50/hour for night shift work ⚠️ Internal applicants should NOT apply to this posting! 👉 Learn more about our nursing program: Qualifications: Required Education and Experience License Requirement License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York. Education and Experience 1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing1; or 2. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and prior experience working in a nursing home, psychiatric facility or other sub-acute facility1; or 3. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting. 2 NOTE: 1. Incumbents must serve a one (1) year full-time probationary period as a Nurse I in order to be eligible for promotion to a Nurse II. 2 Upon successful completion of orientation and the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months (full-time), the incumbent would be eligible to be promoted to a Nurse II. This individual would then serve a one (1) year full-time probationary period as a Nurse II. 3.
