Plant Health Care Technician (Entry Level - Paid Training Provided)

Overview
We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Plant Health Care Technicians. This entry-level position offers paid training and provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills in horticulture, landscape maintenance, and plant care. No prior experience is required, making it ideal for those interested in starting a career in the green industry. The role involves working outdoors across various landscapes, supporting the health and beauty of trees, lawns, and gardens while gaining hands-on experience with a variety of tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with lawn care, mowing, and landscape maintenance tasks to ensure healthy and attractive outdoor spaces
  • Support tree care activities including trimming, pruning, and planting to promote tree health and safety
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and small machinery such as excavators for landscaping projects
  • Perform irrigation system installation, repair, and maintenance to ensure proper watering of plants and lawns
  • Conduct snow plowing during winter months to maintain safe access to properties
  • Support hardscape projects including installation of patios, walkways, and other landscape features
  • Assist with gardening tasks such as planting, fertilizing, mulching, and pest control
  • Maintain equipment and tools to ensure safety and efficiency during daily operations
  • Follow safety protocols at all times while working around construction sites or landscaped areas
  • Complete training, pass and maintain a VDACS, RT license certification
  • Once acquired, maintain good standing and safe practices as outlined by VDACS

Qualifications

  • Interest in horticulture, landscaping, or related fields; prior experience in lawn care or landscape maintenance is a plus but not required
  • Mechanical knowledge or familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and small machinery such as excavators is beneficial
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Strong work ethic with attention to detail and safety standards
  • Willingness to learn new skills through paid training provided by the company
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, digging, and operating equipment safely
  • Valid driver’s license preferred for transportation between job sites
  • Clean driving record

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
