Program Director - Recreational Sports (Clubs & Intramurals)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Program Director- Rec Sports is responsible for the day-to-day operation and staff supervision of a comprehensive Recreational Sports program that consists of Sport Clubs and Intramural Sports. The Program Director is responsible for development, long-range planning and assessment, budget, risk management, and maintaining accurate records of participation. This position reports to the Associate Director of Campus Recreation. Evenings and weekends are required.
Job Duties : Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Directs the recruitment, selection, supervision, payroll process, and evaluation of staff and students; provide guidance and is responsible for professional development and training for staff.
- Provides supervision to the Program Manager (Coordinator) for Recreational Sports and assists with the supervision of student staff.
- Provides leadership and direction for a comprehensive Sport Club and Intramural Sports programs; ensures department policies and procedures follow local and state regulations; creates various reports including annual and semiannual reports as needed.
- Assess, evaluate, and mitigate risk for programs, implement departmental emergency action plan, inspect campus program areas and fields, and contribute to the Departmental Safety Committee.
- Maintain records, contract agreements, and sports equipment
- Responsible for scheduling and coordinating departmental programs; consult with and responds to participant questions and concerns.
- Develop, plan, and implement long range strategic plans and assessment of student development, learning outcomes, evaluations of programs, services, and staff.
- Develop program budgets, monitor expenses and revenue goals, and identify opportunities for fundraising, sponsorship, and grants to support programs and events.
- Collaborate with campus partners and academic units to develop and implement programs and events that contribute to student success.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
- Evenings and weekends required.
QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in recreation, sport management, hospitality management, business, or related field. Master's degree preferred. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated proficiency in creating a positive program experience and the ability to lead and manage student staff. Experience utilizing IMLeagues.com and Fusion software, as well as officiating experience is preferred. Candidate must possess American Red Cross CPR, AED, First Aid certifications and instructor certifications; if not already certified, they must be obtained within the first year of employment.
