Pumphouse Operator

About the position

The Pumphouse Operator is responsible for facilitating the movement of petroleum and chemical products from and between the docks, tank farm, pipelines, trucks, railcars, etc. in a safe manner. The primary duties include aligning tanks, ships, barges, and pipelines for the transfer of product, following established standards and inventory control procedures, sampling and tagging product movements, and preparing accurate documentation for all product movements. The role requires climbing tank stairs, operating valves, pumps, and gauging tanks, as well as basic use of mechanical tools.

Responsibilities

  • Align tanks, ships, barges, and pipelines for the transfer of product.
  • Follow established standards, special customer requirements, and inventory control procedures.
  • Sample and tag product movements, store samples, and review product data sheets.
  • Prepare accurate and complete documentation for all product movements.
  • Climb tank stairs, operate valves, pumps, and gauge tanks.
  • Use basic mechanical tools such as pipe-wrenches and open/close end wrenches.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Knowledge in the use of measuring devices like gauging tapes and thermometers.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office, and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills including adding and subtracting fractions, percentages, and decimals.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver license to operate pick-up to and from tank farm.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two or four year degree in any discipline or honorable discharge from any branch of the US military.
  • Three years of terminal operations/maintenance experience or five years of general industrial experience.
  • Basic pipefitting skills.
