Sanitation Support Services Coordinator

About the position

The Sanitation Support Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating various sanitation activities within the City of St. Petersburg. This role involves assisting an administrative supervisor with technical and administrative matters related to sanitation inspectors, mulch, and rodent control programs. The coordinator will manage the administrative, reporting, and financial aspects of these programs, ensuring compliance with county and state regulations while exercising independent judgment and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor sanitation activities and programs.
  • Assist the administrative supervisor with technical and administrative matters.
  • Manage reporting and financial aspects of sanitation programs.
  • Oversee the selection, placement, promotion, training, safety, appraisal, and discipline of assigned employees.
  • Make decisions based on experience and knowledge of sanitation specializations.

Requirements

  • Valid High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Progressive and responsible administrative and supervisory experience in financial and office management and customer service, preferably with a governmental agency.
  • Experience in aiding an administrative supervisor in technical and administrative problems.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Availability to respond to emergencies and disasters as designated.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid Bachelor's degree.
  • Familiarity with purchase specifications and related equipment.
  • Some supervisory experience.
  • Ability to enforce uniform work standards and policies tactfully.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and computer use.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations for cost assessments.
