Senior Science and Engineering Lead, NASA ESDMD STUI

CSG is organized by core customer-facing lines of business to manage and grow programs within NASA, NOAA, and the NNSA, while extending our capabilities to other civilian federal government agencies fully integrated within Aerospace rules, regulations, processes, values, and behaviors. Within the CSG, the Human Exploration and Space Flight (HESF) Division and Civil Space Operation's Division supports our NASA customer in all aspects of human space flight and deep space exploration program office activities. We are looking for a Senior Science and Engineering Lead on the Data Integration Team. This role will provide strategic integration to NASA's Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate (ESDMD) in support of Science, Technology Utilization and Integration (STUI) content across the NASA agency. STUI is responsible for science coordination; integration of utilization of science, payloads, and technology across mission directorates, including knowledge decomposition; capabilities integration across mission directorates, including defining and managing technology gaps and priorities for ESDMD; and integration of data with ESDMD Moon to Mars office, including defining and managing data gaps and priorities and leading the Artemis Geospatial Data Team.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to teams and on multiple strategic human exploration high impact projects with formal products for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Integrate across mission directorates to collect input and gain consensus on strategic matters in both science and technology.
- Lead data integration activities related to science integration, capability integration, and utilization integration across the Mission Directorates in the Strategy and Architecture (SAO) STUI office for the agency.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Artemis Geospatial Data Team.
- Serve as a highly proactive advisor, understanding issues and formulating recommendations to senior-level civil servant management, while working closely with teams and across other offices, working groups, and panels.
- Lead the development of programmatic strategy for data integration addressing priorities of both science and engineering for space exploration.
- Lead projects derived from NASA's yearly analysis cycles in support of strategic architecture planning.
- Lead consolidation and organization of data product development and analysis tasking related to lunar and Mars surface site characterization.
- Participate in forums for technical discussions where decisions are made related to concepts, mission architecture, testing/training, requirements, and verifications.
- Own, maintain, review, and provide technical input to formal NASA data gap products.
- Engage directly with external stakeholders on research and analysis coordination as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university program in a scientific or engineering field.
- 15 years or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering and/or scientific experience, including experience in data integration.
- Experience serving as integration leader and/or coordinator of a team of technical contributors.
- Knowledge and understanding of the NASA program life cycle and system integration processes.
- Ability to effectively utilize oral and written communication to express technical concepts and recommendations to personnel at all technical and managerial levels.
- Ability to work in a quick-paced, small core team that leads technical discussions across a large technical community and influence teams across the NASA enterprise.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers.
