Transfer--Airport Operations Worker
Class Code 27585: Airport Operations Worker<br><br><strong>Transfer job postings are for County of Sacramento employees only.<br>In order to be qualified for a transfer:</strong><br>1. You must meet the Minimum Qualifications of the new job.<br>2. The difference between the top salary steps (the highest pay rate within the range of pay) of your current job class and the job class that you intend to transfer into, must be less than 5%.<br><br>There are three different transfer types that you may qualify for: interdepartmental transfer, interclass transfer, and voluntary demotion. These different transfer types are defined as:<ul><li><strong>Interdepartmental transfer</strong> - a transfer in the same class from one County department to another.<li><strong>Interclass transfer</strong> - a transfer from one job class to a different job class. In addition, the difference between the top salary steps (the highest pay rate within the range of pay) of your current job class and the job class that you intend to transfer into, must be less than 5%.<li><strong>Voluntary demotion</strong> - a transfer into a job class that pays less than 95% of your current class salary.</ul>If you are requesting an interclass transfer or voluntary demotion, either action is a change in class. Whether the change is a transfer or a demotion depends upon the difference between the maximum salary rates of the requested and incumbent classes. Personnel Ordinance, Section 2.78.294, or the applicable labor agreement sets the criteria for determining the maximum difference allowed. One (1) year of experience working with customers in an airport, airbase, or other aviation related environment that included applying and interpreting rules or regulations related to airport operations, providing and explaining complex information related to airport operations, and regularly handling related complaints.<br><br><strong>Note:</strong> Retail, restaurant, or hospitality experience in an airport, airbase, or other aviation environment is not qualifying.<br><br><strong>Or:</strong> 2. One (1) year of experience performing safety/security duties with responsibility for monitoring and inspecting facilities, working with customers and applying and interpreting rules or regulations, providing and explaining complex information, and regularly handling related complaints.<br><br><strong>Or.</strong> 3. One (1) year of experience performing traffic and/or parking control and enforcement duties with responsibility for working with customers and applying and interpreting rules or regulations, providing and explaining complex information, and regularly handling related complaints.<br><br><strong>Note:</strong> Education from an accredited college or university in a field, such as Airport Operations Management, Aviation, or security, that is directly related to the knowledge and abilities specified for this class may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 semester units or 45 quarter units = one year of experience).<br><br><strong>Note:</strong> The word "experience" referenced in the minimum qualifications means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.<br><br><strong>Note:</strong> If the minimum qualifications include an educational or certificate/license requirement, applicants must submit proof of requirements with the application. The County shall not consider for employment any candidate who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor that relates to or impacts the candidate's ability to perform the job duties of this class unless it is determined that mitigating circumstances exist. A subsequent arrest notification may be obtained.<br><br>The County may also conduct a background check on the candidate prior to appointment to a position within this class. The background check may include personal and professional reference checks, credit history checks, Social Security Number verification, professional license/registration verification, military service information and driving history. Information obtained in the course of this background check will be considered by the appointing authority in the selection process. In obtaining such information, the County will comply with applicable consent and disclosure practices in the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the California Investigative Consumer Reporting Agencies Act.<br><br><u>Special Access:</u><br>Incumbents in this class must acquire and maintain an airport security badge allowing access to secure County airport locations.<br><br><u>License and Permit Requirements:</u><br>A valid California Driver License, Class C or higher, is required at the time of appointment. Additionally, incumbents must acquire and maintain an Air Operations Area Driver Permit issued by the SCAS within two weeks of appointment. Failure to obtain or maintain either the appropriate California Driver License or SCAS Air Operations Area Driver Permit may constitute cause for personnel action in accordance with Civil Service Rules or the applicable bargaining agreement.
