commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary
The Utilities Station Operator II provides skills for the operation and maintenance of various utility equipment and systems. The position repairs, adjusts, and performs ongoing maintenance of facilities, and repairs and maintains fixtures and equipment on University premises.
Core Responsibilities
- Ensures that uninterrupted utility services are rendered and timely emergency responses.
- Operates and maintains systems and equipment that provide utilities and steam control environmental conditions.
- Monitors and responds to life safety system alarms, emergency conditions, security alarms, and related requirements, including fire alarms, emergency power, and others.
- Monitors and performs minor utility adjustments through building automation systems.
- Performs building and system maintenance duties such as filter replacement, fume hood operation, and dormitory maintenance.
- Responds to many campus emergencies, such as electrical outages, gas leaks, water main/line breaks, and others.
- Performs duties related to energy management, conservation, and related tasks such as lighting controls and coordination with TEP.
- Documents and reports various field measurements, observations, analysis, and research methods.
- Coordinates, monitors, and inspects contractor work and services.
- Prepares material requests and orders necessary supplies.
- Assigns tasks and trains subordinates.
- Assists with special events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Vocational Training, or Apprenticeship in a related field.
- Three (3) years of related work experience.
- Related technical training/education may substitute for experience on a one year for one year basis.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Working Conditions
- Control room/office environment (conditioned space) and field environment (dust, dirt, noise, restricted space, extreme temperatures). Exposure to potential occupational hazards associated with HVAC maintenance and emergency response situations. Exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards, hazardous chemicals, high-pressure water and air systems, high-speed equipment, confined spaces, and heights. Exposure to variable Texas weather conditions.
Physical Demands
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Ability to climb ladders and stairways and work on building rooftops at high elevations. Ability to work in confined spaces such as ceilings, under-floor crawlspaces, and manholes. Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Reaching overhead, at or below shoulder level. Operating machinery and/or power tools. Required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws, and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as those by carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.
This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
